Cable to replace T&E

I have been abroad for a few years and I am back getting into the swing of things.I have heard there is a cable on the market that replaces T&E, that can be run outside safe zones without mechanical protection anyone shed any light on this.

Think he wants to bury cable in the naughty areas, where kitchen fitters won't be able to find then when drilling, as they always do when cables are in prescibed zones.
