Practising Electrician (Qualified - Domestic or Commercial etc)
Came across this during recent EICR with 3ph meter tails installed externally approx 300mm between meter box and switch fuse.

Reg 522.6 - ........... 'selected and erected to minimise damage arising from impact, penetration, abrasion' etc ......... which they are, due to their location very unlikely to be affected by any of the above unless maliciously.

Unlikely to be affected by sunlight/UV too, as north facing.

As you say, unlikely to be subjected to that kind of damage unless deliberate. If accidental damage happens it'll be the meter box and switch fuse that get hit first before the cable.

So unless there is some enviromental factor we cant see then i'd say no code for that.

I know the switch fuse almost certainly has the right IP rating but something just doesn't feel right about it being outdoors without some additional protection from the elements.

I did wonder about the switch fuse but double checked (IP65) and ok for mounting externally.

I would be ashamed of it, if I had installed it like that.
don't think there is anything to code.
assuming of course that the conductors are double insulated.
