Stuck on Unit 304 Task B, the question states the method on how to carry out a ring final test on a radial circuit. Thanks

It's either a ring or a radial mate, you must have picked it up wrongly. Do what Rob said

It could be a typo in the question, I'd suggest checking this with your college tutor

Right, the question is "The socket outlets in the shop are installed on a ring final circuit, and the sockets in the glass house are wired in radial circuits. Describe the method for carrying out the test to confirm continuity of ring final circuit conductors".
Obviously for ring its the 3 step, fig of 8 but I don't know how to do it for the radial circuit.

the question does not aSK HOW TO TEST THE RADIALS. IT'S A RED HERRING.

Re-read the question and think about exactly what it is asking you to do.

It is asking you to describe the test to confirm the continuity of ring final circuit conductors, it makes no reference to the preceding information about specific circuits.

Only Continuity Don't get into anything else. Only answer the question that is asked.
Then what everyone else said about the radial

You'll probably have noticed/noticing that exam questions are almost deliberately written to trip you up. Especially C&G papers.

It's really important to read and re read a question.

I know how to carry out a ring final circuit test, I can carry out all the tests in the anagram of CRIPPER. The sockets in the shop are ring so I carry out a ring final but the sockets in the glass house are radial, to my knowledge there is no radial final circuit test, I assume you carry out a ring final for that but I am just not sure

There are tests for radials, you do them when testing a circuit serving a single point (for example). However, the narrative bangs on about rings and radials THEN asks how you're going to test for continuity on the ring, so tell them about it and nothing else.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up, City & Guilds will do their best to confuse me and certainly did so I will put cont. of ring as the answer and should be okay.

Hi.

I've put some of the question in yellow so its difficult too see. This is typical of C+G trying to confuse you, the part i've turned yellow has absolutley no outcome on the answer you'll give to this question. (forget about the continuity of the radial circuit for this question, but by all means if you're wanting to understand this for your own greater knowledge/understanding then please post)

I hope you've just written that as an abreviation on here 'cont. of ring' - and that you're literally not going to just write that. Your answer should involve the full 3 step procedure, in detail.

If it’s any consolation, I served my time just as the C&G was being created. My finals were with The Union of Lancashire and Cheshire Institutes, nothings changed in the way questions are asked.

Your lecturer should spend a little time explaining just how questions are presented. Our tutors would set homework worded in the same fashion. You get to see the wood for the trees once you know how to look for the wood.

It’s a strange way to go about things but unfortunately it’s what life is like in the real world. Not everything is as it appears.
I’ve had faults that sent me on a wild goose chase. The damn fault was under my nose if I’d just stood back and thought about it first.

Thanks a lot, of course not I've put that as an abbreviation here but on the test I've put the 3 step test method.
