Nine bars of Chocolate

Hey all,

Installing some cable tray (as per BEAMA guidelines) in an area that will be subject to wood dust.

I need to put some conduit in for the drops to the outlets. Conduit take offs mostly seem designed for cable baskets rather than trays. I don't want dust getting into the open top of the drops.

The conduit take off plate shown here would work fine with a gland (but cost more and introduce an elbow), but I can't find anywhere that sells them: https://unitrunk.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/63-ZM.pdf

Is there a better or more standard solution?

Thanks

Gland the top of the pipe drops ?
Oops I see you already mentioned gland

Put a stuffing gland at the top of the conduit?

What type of cable will it be?

In the hierarchy of controls the airborne dust should be controlled at source for the protection of the people employed in this workshop. If airborne dust is predicted to be so bad that a harmful amount could enter the end of a bit of conduit then it suggests you should review your plans for managing dust in this workshop.

Yes I agree.. but in reality it isn't down to him to redesign the workshop environment is it?

It's controlled. It's my own workshop so I have a vested interest.

You are right in what you say. My concern is long term accumulation.

As the owner of the workshop yes it is.
