Customer wants to buy the cable to keep costs down, you working on a day rate then, no mark up, ask the customer to design the work and you will see if it OK.

50A shower on a 10mm in a house would probably be ok… but he’s not taking into consideration length or route of run…. Or time duration of the swimming pool load.

What’s the max demand of the house? Sounds like it could be a significant load on that supply
As soon as the customer starts telling YOU what your doing, it’s the time to let someone else do it!
I just mentally switch off when that starts happening, I know I won’t be returning a quote to them

He might be technically right on paper, in as much as volt drop and Zs are fine, and cable rating might be ‘just’ ok on paper, the ‘just’ being particularly related to the 50A pool supply in 6mm. If it goes underground then it’s not ok even on paper. In real world it’s far too close for comfort for me.
Also consider size of earthing conductor needed for pool supply and to support any bonding requirements. And of course special location requirements…
And as others have said, if he doesn’t accept a reasoned explanation then skip this one.

This one reminds me of a guy who got 150 - 160m of 2.5mm² 3 core armoured to supply his stable block and despite being warned that is was not big enough he went ahead on the pretence of electricians always put in big cables that are not needed, he was a bit surprised when he come to use an electric demolition hammer at the stables and it wouldn't run
The same guy had 4 400w dimmers in a 4 gang grid one dimmer had 15 50w halogen downlights on it and the dimmers were crap because they kept failing, I pointed out to him the instructions on how co-located dimmers had to be derated so the 4 dimmers should have been rated at a maximum load of 100w each so all of them were overloaded. What annoyed me with this one it was a new build after demolition of the old property that occupied the site I had done all the strip out and was promised the wiring job on the new property but he gave the work to another "electrician" so he was charged premium rates by me to fix some of the mess
The installation in the OP sounds much in the same vein with the cheap solution which provides a marginal installation or the ideal solution as recommended that gives some margin for future. The overall build sounds expensive so is a saving of £130 on cable going to really break the job that must be costing 10's of thousands

If you trawl through many of the garbage forums etc.There are always those people telling everyone trades are rubbish . they are not worth much , supply everything and dont pay a penny until YOU are 100% happy . I guess one of them is going to be upset as a friend who is super busy was running a kitchen refit . very nice kitchen , plenty of space and safe enough to leave tools etc . All communication with the wife as she is friends of another of his clients . No worries etc etc . Long history of work . he gave his price and terms .Now they are about to start next week and the Husband has gone all "Alpha" and demanding things are changed in regards to stage payment etc. The Guy has 4 guys all ready and booked in
So now he has "issued" notice to the lady that as she was the only communication he had etc .She is the client .She agreed everything and no changes are allowed . But due to the Husband messing around .The fitter is worried it might get worse . And is happy to bin the Job as there is another Job he and the guys can move straight onto . His other clients wont see bad in him..... they have always paid as required and been happy .
