Discuss Do hazardous area light fitting need an internal cut off switch when the cover is opened? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

You want to look in IEC 60079-11 for that answer, or your country's version thereof.
Doubt that there will be anything in the Intrinsically Safe standards about this (60079-11)

It would depend on the certification for the fitting to be honest. Any that I have seen like this are rated for Zone 1 use. I believe the diffuser switch technically allows relamping in the Haz Area without a full isolation of the circuit.

Some of the Ex d fittings I have used do not have these switches as the lamps are accessed by a threaded cover so a full isolation would be required to re lamp.

OP do you have the details for the light fitting in question?

Fair cop, I wasn't massively sure if it would be but seemed a good start point.

UL844 appears to be a US standard for lighting in hazardous areas, not sure if that would contain the info.

Have you thought about approaching an Ex lighting manufacturer and asked the question of thrm, if anyone should know they should.
