As far as I can remember when I installed our alarm, the power is supposed to be off a switched fused supply, in France it has to be off its own MCB.

And he put in built in strain relief, by way of a knot in the cable. ?

I have seen that a few times on PA amps for musicians several decades ago, and the (unclamped) cable twisted round multiple times till the CPC breaks off. There were (mostly) pre-RCD times and I really wonder that so few musicians dies on stage if what I was was a representative sample :(

Where to start….

Wow! Special! Personally I'd start with the size of the link wire between the main earth and the cpc's (that took me a moment to find) as that is quite seriously iffy. No, cancel that, just seen RCD wiring!
Everything out!

I assume the left side rcd serves no purpose probably from nuisance tripping.

Looks like the left rcd has been decommissioned, blooming thing kept tripping out
Was gonna say.........at least most of it's dead.....by the looks??

The yellow caps are on the bar spares.....what's the problem? ?

So it’s a new DB mounted on top of an old 3036 board carcass, with the original earthing terminal still in situ. It was actually hidden behind the back of the plastic DB, I took at it with a pair of pliers to expose it!

The RCD is just there for decoration now, it’s been bypassed. If you look closely you’ll see a brown tail going into the bottom of the last circuit on the left to provide power.
Out of interest I wired it correctly to see if the RCD would trip out and it didn’t, and I didn’t pick up anything on the EICR either!

I reckon that was a DIY job, you just couldn't make such an awful mess of meter tails if you tried, that and a dozen other things.

Not so sure about the DIY. With some of the crap these days it wouldn't surprise me if they were with one of the scams.
Got the wibbly wobblies with them tails.......in the unit, they look like Olive Oil's legs on Popeye.

This is literally a £1,000,000 worth of machine here.
Was the pen holder an extra? That's where they always get you on these machine, the extras list....

I remember when British Leyland reduced the cost of a Mini by making the heater and spare wheel an extra, well we have gone back to selling cars without spare wheels, I think on the Mini it was to get the cost down below the cc of the engine, 850cc at that time only, the Cooper and Cooper S where in the distant future.

And you could have an Austin or Morris. They had lots of quirks to say the least, but they were great little cars.

And for a bit of Class - The Riley Elf and the Wolseley Hornet.
