Hi,I've just got some drawings and a spec from a client who have their own in-house designers and architects,I've been asked to put a price together, submit a tender, for the Electrical Installation. In the spec it says

"Provide copies of all test certificates for fire alarm, emergency lighting and electrical installation in accordance of IEE regulations and certified by NICEIC registered electrician"

When we became registered with NAPIT I asked the Inspector, once we had passed,if we had the same definition with NAPIT as what the Full Scope NICEIC offers. It was an obvious yes,but in real life do NICEIC still rule the roost?

Who should I approach? Is it a requirement of their Insurance,is it habit(industry standard)? How could I convince the clients advisers that NAPIT holds as much esteem, even more if you include integrity, and still look like a credible contractor?

I might have to go against my morals and go NIC next year!!!

It even says that on the LABC forms I submitted recently for a board change, I think the industry will take a long time to catch up old habits die hard, I wonder if they specified a Corgi Cert..:D

I might put that question to them,It could just be something that is cut and paste by an unaware autoCAD operative.
I wonder what NAPIT have to say in their defence

I would post a helpful reply if I had one to give. All I can suggest to you, is to contact Mike Andrews at NAPIT. He will see that the specifiers are educated.

Sorry about misreading your user name, wasn't taking the juice.
