Does anyone else come across EICs which have double or reinforced insulation as a protective measure ticked on the schedule of inspections?

This springs to mind as I am currently looking at three different EICs for three seperate installations by three different companies, all have whom have ticked this box. Is it just me, because it seems like every single EIC I ever see has this box ticked?!

I have yet to design and/or install an electrical installation that utilises double or reinforced insulation as its sole protective measure???

Just wondering?

No, listed under - Methods of protection from electric shock is:

Both basic and fault protection

Which covers:

SELV
PELV
Double insulation
Reinforced insulation

Never have I designed and/or installed a system that utilises any of these as its sole protective measue. I can't see that a great many other sparks will have either unless they work for Network Rail or TFL, and yet they all seem to want to tick these boxes?!

I must admit I'd filled in hundreds of PIR reports for caravans, nearly always the same on the tick sheets so you get into a routine with them, really threw me when they changed to 17th edition, and EICR!

Where do you stand on the note at the bottom of page 61, where it makes reference to EQUIPMENT, and not just the final circuit?
lets say a double insulated light fitting that forms part of the fixed installation.

I haven't got my book in front of me it's in the van so will dig it out tomorrow, but the first part of the inspection schedule is only referring to the protective measure applied to the whole installation.

Double insulation is not suitable as the sole protective measure in domestic situations as it would require require the installation to be under effective supervision (Reg 412.1.3)

However, this box would be ticked if double insulated equipment was connected or installed, as would Selv if Selv downlights were installed etc
