Hi, im looking for a bit of advice on what kind of earth leakage meter i would need. I will be using it mostly for domestic work to help with any rcd tripping issues. Just seeing so many to choose from varing hugley in price depending on make and sensitivity, just dont want to splash out on something Megger expensive when i need not. i have a fluke mft , avi and multi meter so am a bit biased but just want the best deal. Any help appreciated . BigSpark

You could try one of the forum sponsors; TM-EL9809 High Resolution AC Earth Leakage Clamp Meter - http://www.test-meter.co.uk/earth-leakage-clamp-meter/tm-el9809-earth-leakage-clamp-meter/

This one was quite a bit cheaper when I purchased it, so if you have long working life in front of you, you may wish to spend a bit more of your cash; Leakage Current Measurement Clampmeters for earth and ground leakage measurements - http://www.test-meter.co.uk/earth-leakage-clamp-meter/

If you do buy from them, go via the forum link, it will keep Dan happy.

Hi - I bought a KEW2200 off forum sponsor as a general meter with clamp functionality. It does not have the resolution that other meters have (10mA). It was all I could afford after MFT, and with the slim jaws it's easy to use.

Most clamp meters with a mA scale will do the trick

Got an ma one on Ebay for about £20.
I always seem to find the fault with insulation tests & hardly ever used it.
