Right then what standard should an competent electrician be at qualification wise

i know what the regulations state which organization ie niceic , napit
eca etc. JIB ????????

Can a jib registered sparky do part p work without registering :p

Can a kitchen fitter rewire a house and a shop

Can we ever get the m****s to make the tea right

Can we ever get paid enough

Now i find some people on here have skills relevant to their trade and they all may or may not be at the technical level of others.

So brother sparkies it is over to you come tell me i am wrong right or just plain ( be civil):D:D:D

Lets make 2009 a good year despite what the rest of the world is doing

cheers

There are to many approved organisaions and all electricians should be registered with one i.e. JIB so that everyone knows that that electrician meets the standards the industry expects.

Being a member of the NICEIC, NAPIT, Elecsa and other schemes only come into play if you work for yourself and not if you are a spark employed by someone else.

As to a JIB spark or any other person may carry out work covered by Part P if not registered in a scheme they can carry out the work as long as the work has been notified to the LABC and the fee has been paid.

A shop is not covered by Part P unless the is domestic premises above the shop and is supplied off the same meter as the shop.

As retiredsparky said if you are a member of the JIB it can prove to a prospective employer of your training and qualifications you have received but this would only apply to the electrical contracting industry as manufacturing companies with maintenance departments do not belong to the JIB
