Fluke t6 tester, non contact voltage reading?

Anyone got one of these yet? I’ve got the older t5 version and the fingers on the end are really handy with ac current detection. The new one supposedly gives you non contact voltage reading as well.

Was in eddies and there was one in a stand on the counter to try out, it wouldn’t work when I tried it so didn’t get one

Any thoughts?

You have to click on ‘reply’.

Yeah but I clicked ‘quote in conversation’ as I wanted to quote LeeH’s post in my reply to him.

On my phone so may have different options? Will try ‘+quote’ next time I’m feeling adventurous

You can also highlight a piece of text and +quote just that part of a post

I only go back to 1 pound notes & half pennies. I remember mars bars were 18p & petrol was about 65p per liter. Ooo & knickerbocker glories looked so big lol

I remember way back when we worked on red and black in a t&e, wired in a ring main circuit and everyone had a card of fuse wire in their pockets.

And insulation testers were wind up

I wouldn’t use it for safe isolation, handy as a quick indicator for preliminary fault finding/cable tracing though...

my first ever purchase of petrol was 5/- a gallon.that's gallon, not foreign liters. 20 Embassy were 1/10p. a pint of bitter at the local was 1/9p. then again my wages were £6/15/- a week.

Happy Days Mate, them wind up meters were a source of many an Apprentice getting a belt, just hold these wires a minute Ld will you please, can't do that sort of thing these days, can you?????????????

Yeh Pete... it was even used in college. “Hold them and I’ll wind the handle slowly, then speed up... see how long you can hold it.”

I got up to pins and needles in the elbows before the dropped out my fingers.

The “bad” kids were at the end of the line to try.... they got full speed straight away.
