HELP, lights not functioning properly after consumer unit change

I changed an old fuse board for a new consumer unit and the lighting for this house was connected in two separate fuses. So I swapped one for one and put them into two 6 amp breakers. Now the light at the bottom of the stairs is permanently on and the light at the top is off. Light at top controlled by two way switching. Light at the bottom just controlled by single switch! I think it is possibly one big ring as I am getting cutlrrent on the other when only one is connecting into a breaker?

Unless there was some sort of switching connection within the old consumer unit I fail to how how changing a consumer unit has caused this whether on separate protective devices or the same.

There was a separate little fuse board that was fed with other tails, it contained two lighting sized cables but contained no fuses so I simply put them in a junction box to ensure they weren't made live. Apart from this It was a simply swap

And have you checked to see if they are live with your new board powered up. The neutrals in this old board are they now separated.

I checked for voltage on the live conductor and it wasn't live however I may have neglected the neutrals, they are not seperated. I also tested the light that is permanently on and the current is not coming from the switch live but instead from the neutral

I am not sure now, potentially not. There was a isolated before it for the tails so I simply used that to isolate

Yes they are, only issue is the one at the bottoms of the stairs perminantly on and switch does nothing and one of too of stairs is off and doesn't operate from either two way switch

Is there voltage between the apparent redundant neutrals and the neutral bar in the new board when the lights are on.

If you have voltage between where I suggest those conductors may not be redundant, only guessing mind you.

It would make sense as nothing else has been touched apart from the board change, so it must be something I have physically done I guess?

So both lighting cables are live with one disconnected?.....and you think 'it's possibly one big ring'?
It's two circuits linked in some way. Neutrals/wiring mix up crying out.
Are you getting a return on the disconnected neutral?.....and, if so, under what circumstances?

How have you established that current is flowing from the neutral?

IR test between the two cir units to establish if there are any interconnections, youll need to do it with all switches closed obviously.

Did the circuits pass all of the commissioning tests?
