Hi,

I have a specific problem for remote locking specialist.

The problem is this:

I have Honda Jazz 1.2 2007 and I had remote locking system installed about a year ago by some third party installer. I assume it was only some cheap system, was only £70 that time. it worked without problems maybe for 6 months and then it started randomly switch one of the relays inside so I thought I will replace it and it will be sorted. But the relay replacement did not work, it seems like it is picking up information somewhere from the car ( some sensor or even loose connection ) and keeps beeping and clicking the relay randomly - quite often. It is not locking or unlocking the door while its doing it, it only clicks inside the unit and makes beeping sound as it does it. I had to disconnect it from the connector as it was so annoying and disturbing, plus it could drain my battery day by day. I could not find the problem as my car electrics knowledge is very limited, but might be easy fix for someone who knows. I would not probably be bothered and leave it disconnected, but another problem is that my manual key door lock on drivers side stopped working as well ( before the remote locking was installed ) so I have to open my car through the boot lock - real pain as you can imagine...

Anyone came across something like this?? Any ideas where to look, how to fix it?

Thanks for any advice

Hi dude, you seem to have been ignored! ... obviously, without actually being there,it is apt for stabbing in the dark...i would recommend removing,or having removed, the previously fitted remote kit. This will at least iron out any faults on the original system.

The cost of that fitment, suggests a simple remote add-on,which quite often, work by a remote signal switching a feed to the drivers' door central locking solenoid, thus activating all the other locks via the vehicles C/L system.

It is a quite simple system, and often, the removal and replacement of panels and trim, will be the trickier task. :goofy:

Hi pal,

thanks for reply I thought no one willnswer t all:)

actually you might be spot on there, it seems like it can be the sensor on the door, cause when I hit the door cover it seems to start/stop doing it.recenly i put it back in and it is working perfectly for more than a week now. I will have to try to remove the door trim and see, but as you said, taking it off is a really tricky part.

thanks for input, if you have any tips how to take it off they will be more than welcome :))

Hi pal, Although i have stripped more than plenty of these type of yokes, the "Jazz" has eluded me...but going off all the other Hondas and Japanese marques, including my own list of Nissans, the japanese make these tidily, which makes repetitive removal,an option.
Look for fixings, both hidden and obvious,in the recesses of handles and storage binnacles. The main trim panel will be secured also, with poppers or clips, and these are best released by sliding a thin pry right next to them, and "flicking" them free, one at a time. Slow, sustained force will damage/strain these.
Once removed, any connected wiring will either require disconnecting or threading free. There may also be a vapour barrier and/or sound deadening material to remove.
Access to door lock solenoid and mechanism may require a mirror/torch,and make a note of removal order/method,of any components.

You can "kid" the lock receiver by racking it in two clicks (fully locked) before you try it. You can then view operation with the door open.

Another small point...you will want to try/operate mechanism...DO NOT forget that with the ignition on,an accidental stab on the window switch, may initiate auto lower, and your digits will be sausage!

Look for play/excess travel in actuating linkage, check for full movement in exterior lock mechanism (if present),see if actuator has full travel, with adequate power - could be tight somewhere. Also see where additional remote has been spliced in to original wiring.

A quick trawl of the Honda forum may be beneficial in this respect.

Honda do not make inferior kit,so they are fixable...if they had ever bothered to build a rival to the Patrol or Amazon...i would have had one
