Hi,

I'm considering including an inline dimmer switch for a tabletop 'mood' lamp (mains connected) I'm currently prototyping. The lampshade is made of paper glued to a clear flame retardant PVC which is also the structure of the lamp (like an origami). I'd like to use low energy 4-6W dimmable LED bulb inside to keep everything cool.

So far I have only found two electronic dimmer switches by Relco (here and here) for LEDs and they are quite expensive. Given the rapid spread of LED technology I find it surprising if not disappointing. Am I asking too much? Should I rethink my design to use either incandescent or custom circuit with low voltage LEDs and AC power supply?

Thank you!

There are indeed plenty but not for LEDs ('trailing edge' type?). No problem with wall mounted dimmers, though. Just inline seem tricky to find for some reason.

Yes but could you not put those inline dimmers on the dc side rather than the mains ?
