Totally agree with you WRT the positioning of sockets and always go for the min of 300mm . Common sense seems to be in short supply with an awful lot of people these days.

Part P states that the BS7671 must be adhered to. Therefore whatever is laid down in BS7671 is correct.

The NICEIC are correcton this, and they do not make up their own regs. There is no regulation on how close accesories are to sinks or hobs BUT, there are regs on external infuences due effecs there upon.
