Is this the worst install you have ever seen? *Feedback wanted!*

I thought I'd seen bad workmanship in my time.........bloody hell...No way is he a spark,even a very bad one would do a better job.
I've an apprentice in his third week and I guarantee he would do a better job.Where's the pride gone in your workmanship.It's one of the first things I was thought?

I am not registered to do this kind of work in homes with regards to the schemes and Part P.

You don't have to be registered with anyone under Part P, you can self certify your own work.

This clown needs reporting, if you have his details then get buildings control round to look and tell them who he is. There are laws against this behaviour under namely the EWR1989. If he's being paid then he must be held responsible for his work.

Part P of the builing regs is a legal requirement and states that any electrical work undertaken outside of the equipotential zone of your property, (back garden).must be certificated under the part P scheme. If you don,t you can be prosecuted. If you contact trading standards with those pictures they can prosecute him as he broke the law. You could possibly ask him for all the money back to save him from prosecution.

Jonathon I'm sorry mate but you're living in a dream world. Yes the installer has broken the law, yes he should be brought to book but do you honestly think anything will be done?

Well this has got to be the worse bit of electrical work i've seen, now i know a lot of you on here don't like the home study sparks but this guys suppose to be time served and i do a better job in my sleep than this job. He wants taping to his job having it re-connected then a bucket of water throwing over him just for good measures

The person who done it has obviously not got a clue. But surely they must know electric is dangerous? So therefore they have shown a compete disregard for anyone's safety. They want locking up. It's just as selfish as drink driving!

That is a good analogy, and this goes way beyond the usual crappy work we sometimes shake our heads at.
I'm sure that if the poor MP who lost her Daughter was to see this, there would definitely be something done about this guy.

Not strictly true. If his standard of work has the potential to cause serious injury or harm then he may be prosecuted under the Health and Safety act for leaving a potential AND serious hazard brought about via his incompetence. Unfortunately it won't fall under the Health and safety at work at 1974 and HSE don't usually get involved with domestics but work like this chap has done they will certainly show an interest because of it's seriousness. This is where the IEE regulation fall flat on there face as they are not mandatory and therefore cannot take some one to court for not following them. However they may be referred to in a court of law brought about by a higher hierarchy such as the HSE.

seriously this so called sparky hasnt a clue or doesnt care even if he had it on a RCD it wouldnt work it needs a earth and special location
ok i have heard all this before !!!
many years i visited electricians for their assessments and they would show me photos or tell me so and so done this and that and yes if it was in front of me i would report it straigth away but when i tell the electricain to report it they say oh i dont want the bother
either dont complain or report it this what is shown is a life threatening example bit of rain little kid and electrics makes for a distaster
