Yes many Scottish sparks I have worked with over the years have a JIB card instead of a SJIB card as it is easier for them when trying to get on the big jobs down south.
You need to have the 17th Edition though or they will not give you a card.
It is easier for a potential employer to check with the JIB to see if you are a spark than the SJIB as I think the SJIB want money to search their records for this and the JIB costs nothing.

It is only middle aged sparks that I have met that do this,I never bothered myself as most potential employers want you to email a copy of your card.
