After any pointers/ advice please/ is it possible....

Off to look a job later on, underfloor heating install.

But it's Slightly bigger than my usual bathroom mat I may put in from time to time.

I've got a couple of large areas to price/spec up around about 30-50m squared each - lounge and open plan kitchen/dinner - large coach house on single phase domestic supply.

Floating engineered wood floor to go on top, original floor boards below.

Would like as their primary source of heating.

Usually use 'Heatmat' or 'WarmUp' systems.

Have been looking on line and it seems that a 50m set up would be around 27A, so x 2 = 54A, no diversity allowed :uhoh2::sweatdrop:

I really cant see this being possible, they've already got a 20 way CU running numerous circuits.

Best get my clamp meter out....

Any thoughts please,

Many Thanks,

Sy

A little advice,

on bigger systems like that you will have to use a contactor to switch the load but we had an issue a while back where the stat kept losing its memory and it ended up being that we needed a capacitor accross the coil

Sounds like an expensive way to heat a house as a primary heat source and probably a non starter on a standard single phase supply

Find it interesting that some householders believe electric is a never ending limitless supply and the 100A on the cut out means nothing

I would be concerned about the heat transfer through the engineered wood floor to achieve the required room temperatures and also what the fire risk is with such a large system in close contact with a combustible material

The only alternative that comes to mind is a wet system using an economy seven boiler if gas is not available

Edit Forgot to add trying to sort out a problem with a large electric underfloor heating system at the moment (approx 40kw +/- a bit) installed by others all on 1 phase of a three phase supply and causing one hell of an imbalance on the rest of the installation and takes a good 24 - 36 to warm up

We did fit a wet system recently with an enginered wood floor and the spec was that you could not heat it above 27'c or it could start warping, imagine would be the same with electric UFH

Have been having to dodge my way around a whole-house wet system on a new build - first floor has been tacked direct onto the caber boards and the plumbers manual says it runs at 45C!!

Well that was easy........ came to just over 100sqM total, simple answer to that -----> no chance:nonod:

Thanks for all your advice, all good info for any future jobs like this I come across again :smiley2:

(Wasnt all bad, he wants me to do his new kitchen and a load of LED lighting)
