Just having a bathroom fan installed. It's an intelligent unit that runs continuously but thought it best to have an isolator switch.

Have been told the isolator switch has to be outside the bathroom on the hall wall above the bathroom door.

We would prefer to have it in the hall cupboard (located next to the bathroom door) - are there any regulations that prohibit this?

ALSO - having a spur added for eventual addition of a PIV unit in the (separate) toilet. Is it within regulations to put the isolator for this inside the toilet room (containing a WC and small hand basin).

Again - any regulations against this (or advice on a better solution than having switches above the doors in the hall).

Thanks

I doubt there is a reason it can't be put in the cupboard as long as it is accessible.
it may even be possible to have it in the bathroom, depending on the size of the room and the location of the bath, shower etc.

your room with toilet and hand basin is not a special location and there are no specific rules as to what can and cant be put in there.

Unless the isolator is lockable or capable of being secured so it cannot be energised then it should be in control of the person isolating it at all times, ie in the same room in this case. This applies to an isolator installed for purposes of maintenance.

That was my thinking - just need to check if any regulations stipulate position (other than outside zone 1/2
