lv downlighters and insulation in loft

Hi respected friends, With regards to LV downlighters into loft space what is everbody doing about insulation ? what is the correct procedure for dealing with insulation a foot thick ?obviously you need to keep the tranny clear and cool but what else should be done ?.

I had the same problem and fitted insulation support boxes that came flat pack.Made up they fitted between ceiling joists and insulation was rolled over them.

how about upsidedown terracotta flowerpots the ones with holes in the bottom (ive seen it done!)

No reason why you couldnt make your own support out of MDF or something similar.

Make a 500mm chimney of plasterboard and baton Cut some 2 or 3 inche holes in the top/sides and plonk them over the fittings
Simple and cheap
