Max length of unsupported flex to a light fitting.

Max. Distance for an unsupported flex from a clik ceiling rose to a light fitting. Can anyone point me in the direction of the Regulation number?

Wouldn't the limit be on the weight of the fitting and the flex rather than the length of the flex or is your concern the circuit impedance and disconnection times?

The fitting is supported by a ceiling grid. I could swear that there is a reg that stipulates the max length.

Yes but I think there is a max length, probably associated with volt drop of the flex.

3 metre pre wired lengths can be bought, so presumably longer than that.

As I am sure you are aware, a lot of lighting circuits can be wired in 1.5mm2 and 2.5mm2 however it would be a very rare occasion to see flex of that cross sectional area serving a light fitting from a klik, hence why there is a stipulated max length for the flex.

From memory it's 2 or 3 metres. I don't know if it's the same reg but there's one which states a maximum length of cable which can be used where the csa of the cable is reduced, without fusing it down.

Well seeing as you are doing electrical work you have a copy of the regs.

You now have two options either understand the regs and find it yourself, or find a job that you know what you are doing when given a task.

So the OP says they think there is a reg backing up their claim , yet doesnt support it with evidence. Yeah thats good reason to reply with relevant information.
