Meter tails through Recessed meter box

Hi all, what are your thoughts on running new tails from an outdoor recessed meter box,straight through the existing hole into the garage where the CU is situated. Should the hole be enlarged to accommodate some sort or trunking for protection and sealed for fire??? The tails are connected to a DP isolator and the CU is within 3 meters.

I thought from the isolator onward it was the Electricians responsibility?

i'd prefer todrillout the hole in the wall and bang in a piece of 1 1/4 waste pipe, available from any plumber's stockpile.

What about the mechanical protection aspect? Even though its coming through a recessed box,does it still not need to be mechanically protected? the whole concealed cable thing!

Thats what i was thinking but what about the concealed part? Am i being incredibly picky??

No not if they pass direct from one side to the other.

If the hole was between house and garage I would fire seal. But this isn't, if I've understood correctly.

Yeah that's correct. Its an outside wall into the garage.

Straight through the wall then clipped direct or trunking wouldnt req rcd protection, however a sleeve would stop damage to cables from falling debrie down the cavity in the future.

Is this garage attached or integral always protected tails in trunking (mechanical protection and neatness) never known the hole being sealed in past but see no reason not to.

Attached but not integral. I would run the tails in trunking,like you say,makes it more neat than anything else.

If the board is mounted on batons and ply,bringing it off the wall, do you guys believe that it is ok to bring the tails into the rear of the CU with the other cables? The tails would be supported by being clipped within the trunking its contained in with fire clips. Or just go with a tails gland into the bottom/side of the CU?

i'd go in from the bottom. that way you can clamp the tails if you need to for load or for finding any earth leakage.

What about the batons and wood board mounting? i know that its only the CU that needs to be of a non combustible material, i just dont fancy getting it all done and them someone telling me that i need to loose the board and batons!!
