Anyone got a pair of these, are they worth there money? some on ebay for about £25 with the different cutting blades CK ones, I work in industrial so you think it'll be a great time saving tool?

cheers luke

Luke, I bought my CK cutters 3 weeks ago after meaning to buy some for the last 3 years. Mine are ratchet cutters with the anvil so as well as conduit you can cut YT2 and also YT3 plastic trunking. Tell you what, I rate them as an absolute MUST! I paid £15 + vat from WILTS wholesale.

on that note, i think am going to order a pair. Tend to do conduit every other job, and my cutting aint exaclty straight with the junior. cheers

I also ahve the ck ones, and now half my firm does after seeing how easy they are to use.

I use these:
PLASTIC PIPE/MOULDING CUTTER Electrical / Plumbing Find Pipe Cutting / Bending Buy Tools CHEAP Online
They're ratchet action and have a sharp, pointed blade so pierce the tube rather than squashing it which can make it impossible to get the accessory box on.

The button on the back makes the blade spring back, so you can easily use them one-handed.

bad points:
no YT2 adaptor (which most people seem to lose anyway)
they're a bit bigger than some so take up a bit more space in your toolbox.

I have 2 pair. One pair does 1/2 inch through 1-1/4 inch PVC conduit. The other pair does 1 inch through 2 inch PVC conduit. I'd never be without them on a PVC job. Burr free cut, square as can be, and super quick. No shavings to clean up, unlike a hacksaw cut. Excellent for underground repair work, if you're working in a ditch. Not as much overdigging required to get the ratchet cutters in.

Here's what the big pair looks like:

The entire male culture in the US has "tools" as a very important part. I think beer and trucks are tied for second place.

Yellow hilmar ones are good as gold.. havent tried chopping mini trunking with them though, but for tube they're spot on.
