I take it the plug/ socket set up is IP rated and not just a domestic 13A in a poly bag and taped up??

If a light comes with flex attached… I wouldn’t reflex it with a longer lead… I’d extend with another plug/socket… but a proper IP rated one like the blue 16A round pin.
Even if you have a plug at top AND bottom of pole…. It would be simple enough to replace fittings.

I’ve seen so many of the newer type flat LED floodlights from various manufacturers just filling up with water. They’re just not made like they should be.

Thanks so much, yes it's all a proper professional set up and i asked for sockets at the base of each lampost so planning couldn't refuse based on floodlighting. I'm going to get an electrician friend to come do half a day for me this time and get all the stuff ready for me to do it myself next time, thanks so much for the advice, it's exactly what I'll do.
