Hi All,

Just looking for a bit of advice, I havent had much dealings with PV panels my self, But a charity I support locally who provide Horticultural therapy for Forces veterans are having a new shed built, and have asked me weather having PV Panels fitted would be worth their while.

The shed is going to be 5mx7m with a sloped westerly facing roof.

Just looking for some advice and information from anyone with more experience with this side of things than myself.

cheers

How much load is required and how far from the nearest supply is the shed.

Hi Pete,

the shed will have its own main supply, which is being installed as part of the works, so im unsure on the size and capacity of this at the moment.

the load in the shed will be quite low, a few light fittings and a small number of sockets, not used for heavy loads, mainly for laptops and possibly a small projector for meetings.

cheers

In order for it to save money and get the instal costs back you normally have to consume all or most of generated power.

so it depends on install cost and daytime consumption.

cheers Pete, thanks for the info, I will have a chat with them about what they use and then look into install costs, compared to what they will use.

thanks again for the info

Octopus energy (and I suspect others by now) offer a tariff that pays you for your exported energy. You'd have to look at the costs of the installation, and work out what you might actually get for your exported energy, and work out how long the payback period is.
