I’m looking to buy some PVC Conduit for some security lights rather than clip the cable. We don’t use it in work. But I know I need 20mm conduit but would I be okay using 20mm inspection elbows? I assume they just fit inside?

Yes overflow pipe, but if you must use it, asa it is thick walled I have successfully turned it down at the end by putting a mandrel inside and turning it on an electric drill with some sandpaper or file, gets you out of a problem if needs be.
easier to get the right conduit. and why white? bloody eyrsore. black is more appropriate.

Every brand of conduit I've used has had the make and size printed along it - typically about once a meter. I try and put the printing at the back where it's not visible when I fit it.
As to fitting vs forming ... Well that's a tricky one. I agree that well formed bends and sets look waaaay tidier than a load of bends and short bits of pipe. But on the other hand, making well formed bends and sets is an art form in itself and I would imagine a novice would need "a few attempts and some spare pipe" during the learning process (especially doing it free-form with a spring). I don't consider myself very good at it :(
As mentioned, give the pipe a good rub (to warm it) before bending, and bend it well past where you want it to stay as it will spring back considerably.

As much as the hate a plumber on here extends, they have their own problems in that each manufacturer of plumbing fittings make then all a slightly different size so not that easy to co-ordinate fittings to fit together, and then we have tried to fit plumbing pipe into conduit fittings, will this madness ever end. LOL

Because I have white pvc windows and doors and a white iron gate. So black would stick out.

If it is being used externally it should be black.

That won't make it compliant as an electrical conduit though, it is manufactured to a different BS and made from a different material.

I did use plumbers pipe once myself. For running CCTV along the front of my own house. I’ve got a bay window, and the plumbers pipe come with 45’ bends.

Yes, I just left the ends open. Bad of me.
Built it up with the cable inside already, and it’s glued. The bends have a corner inside them, rather than a sweeping smooth run.
Only for ELV and cctv signal.

Going off at a tangent ...
Interestingly I've noticed that for galv conduit, you can get solid (non-inspection) bends, elbows, and tees. I'm thinking that threading stuff through conduit with non-inspection tees could be "interesting"

Solid bends and elbows have always been about a tee seems odd but have just seem them online. How would you wire a tee and guarantee it went the correct way.

I guess you'd need a bit of a set on the end of your tape - and keep the tape the right way round. I'd be more concerned about getting past the inevitable edges to get into the next tube.

use string and a henry. suck from the place you want it to come out, with any othe outlets plugged or taped over,.

Trampolines, hot tubs and accent lighting is a sure way to devalue the neighbourhood.
No trampoline or hot tub. My back garden is on a slope, so water would spill out, or the kids would bounce out onto the main road.

yes. I wasn’t keen on running those lights out.... but it’s for the kids.
They won’t last long... not entirely IP rated for a start.

Thanks I’ve ordered some 20mm conduit. It’s to run some 10mm twin and earth from the CCU to the garage CCU as the guy who converted the garage into a room just left the old 1.5mm SWA cable in. But my uncle who is a spark of 50 years said that’s no good. So the SWA is coming out and the T&E going in it’s place. We’ve done the cable calcs so 10mm is fine. The reason we couldn’t fit SWA is the room where the CCU is has been fully refurbished and decorated. We managed to fit the T&E before the was put in.

Now would I need to buy some draw tape or is there another method for the bends? As the T&E goes down the conduit fine as it’s less than a metre between the house and garage.

Thanks

I might have missed this, but presumably there was a reason why SWA was originally going to be used? Is the route definitely suitable for T&E?
