Hi All,

Long-time lurker and user as a resource! Ex electrician with limited domestic experience!

Currently routing CAT6's through my 1920's semi from first-floor landing through to the loft, and found a potential route through an old doorway, nicely inside a 150mm dimension from the junction of two walls and a clear route from the floor to ceiling.

My question - would anyone here think twice about drilling the head of the door frame? In my head, it's nothing but a noggin horizontally. The wall is one of the half brick types sat on the floorboards, clay brick (in between vertical stud) up to around 1400mm and lath and plaster to the ceiling. Going to chuck a couple of 32mm holes in it and leave a draw wire through one of them.

On the attached images, the junction in question is highlighted yellow, and the 3D view shows the pink lath and plaster, yellow is the door infill (the door is actually still attached to its hinges and hung there think!), orange is the perpendicular supporting wall!

Any input greatly appreciated!

Thank you

Dan
