im adding a fused/spur for boiler problem is that old wylex board no rcd protection . im planning to run surface
plastic trunking from nearest skt in bedroom.
question
1/is does cable need rcd protection ? i would say no
2/do i need to put an rcd face on skt im spuring off ?
3/do i need rcd fused spur to protect bolier?

Hey mate.

Just to cover your own --- I would install an RCD spur next to the socket with 13A fuse in and run off that to your boiler spur (non RCD type) with your 3A fuse in.

Your covered then whatever, even though as you say technically you dont need RCD protection as it's surface mounted.

Cheers.

As A Qualifying Manager, we have just been told by the NICEIC inspector that everything now has to have a a minimum of 3mm steel protection. So does that mean plastic capping & conduit within walls are wrong. He couldn't answer or was unsure.

Sounds to me as if he's talking out of his conduit... 3mm protection on a 22mm conduit is going to reduce the ID by loads... off top of head that's a third less tube to shove wires down... 300mm2 down to about 200mm2. Can that be right?
