Discuss Requirements for new ring main in garage in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I need to fit a number of new 13A sockets in my garage to power some new equipment. I am planning to put in a new ring main and a new consumer unit to connect these sockets. The garage is a few metres from my house where the main CU is. Do I have to carry the ring main all the way back to the main CU, or can I put in a length of say 30A steel armoured cable from a new MCB in the main CU to the garage CU?

Any other regulations that I may not have thought of that I need to comply with?

Thanks - Rowan
