Does anybody know where i can buy one of these? Do you know the type i mean, the one you pull down and it stays put then you give it a tug and it flies back and coils up... need one around 10m long or so.

Not the standard drum type ones, a straight feed one, a bit like those hose type plate washers you get in resteraunts, you pull it and use it where ever necessary, then when you are done release it, and its on a sort of external coil that winds back in. Having a very hard time trying to make sense here im sorry :dunce2:

I need a system like Malc found, thats idealy what i want, but wont be spending that much money. Ill have to go for the drum wound ones like that Mogga. I dont really want to mount anything to the ceiling of the warehouse as its asbestos panelled and frankly dont want to touch the stuff at all. want something fairly robust i can bolt down to the girder supports at the ceiling line. Might just abandon this little project all together and just do it the easier but less practical way. Thanks chaps

the reel could mount to girders no problem Why robust are the users needing knuckles wrapped for abusing company equipment ?

Production workers can bend girders just by looking at them! A retractable cable reel? I’ll give them 4 hours before the springs broke or the cables ripped in half!

Precisely....knowing this lot who have the collective IQ of a pond newt, they will be swinging, hanging, attaching items to make wrecking balls with it, licking it, chewing it, inserting it places...generally everything else aside from plugging in the things they need to get the job done. So something can withstand a force 8 hurricane would be best suited. A cable reel however im not sure could tolerate these baboons

Baboons, and they’ve got a collective brain cell? You’ve only got the junior version of a production worker!
I must introduce you to Ivan! I was nearly in tears looking at a brand new control panel I’d installed. Totally flattened, as was the 6” pipe barrier around it. “It wasn’t there before the holidays”. I’d even painted the whole lot fluorescent yellow and he drives over it with a front-end loader!

I have to confess though, i feel ive been a little unfair.

some years ago when i was also a mere peon working on the factory floor with the hooligans here, we bought a new side loader fork lift, now i was the only one who had a license for both counter balance and side loader, so i was told as the "senior" driver to give her a little test run around the ware house, so after a few dohnuts and the odd wheely.....only kidding...i got round to bringing the pallets outside the warehouse floor into the yard so we could start the day, i had totally forgotten what i was driving and that the mast height on this truck was maybe 6 ft taller then the standard counter balance, so after flooring the bugger at high speed out the warehouse door, i negelected to check the height of the mast and how high some numpty had opened the main door too, and managed to tear the 20 x 15 ft corregated warehouse door off its runners and totally pringle it...problem was, the engnigeers couldnt arrive on site until the next day, so we had a warehouse full of about £300,000 of stock totally exposed, nevermind the cost of the repair at £5000. Needless to say, i was sent home. To make it worse i decided not to drive to work that day but isntead blag a lift so i ended up with a 12 mile walk home too. Kept my job though!! Big win. But became the proud owner of the di*k head award trophy for about 3 years...
