trying to find answers in the reg book, but is there anything to say you can't install say a larger ring circuit for a sub main? to reduce volt drop / cable size etc.

Normally you would obviously install a large enough cable, but would this be acceptable , whats our thoughts?

Surely it would then be a parallel circuit/parallel conductors .....There are requirments for installing/designing a parallel circuit/conductors.

Yes, seen plenty sub-mains cables ran in parallel. Ie it’s eaiser to install / terminate 2 x 150mm SWAs, than one big beast of 300mm2!
Only ring circuit (for sub-main) I’ve seen was in a prison, a 4 or 6mm2 ring circuit in trunking, ran round a number of cells, each had a small DB (fitted out side above the door) for the light and socket.
