Single core flex uses....

Hi folks,

Doing some work in a house and customer asked what a single core cable clipped along the skirting board was for. I said it isn't telephone, speaker, doorbell nor alarm and I was perplexed as to what it could have been used for.
Cable in question was defo single core, approx 0.3-0.75mm CSA. It wasn't insulated and sheathed, but did have a pretty thick insulating outer. From a purely visual perspective it looked the same size as 3 pair alarm cable.

For the life of me I cannot think what its purpose may have been. Nothing about its route gave any indication either...

Did to a certain extent Buzz. It lead round in a circle then disappeared under the floor.
Was just curious if anyone could offer a logical explanation. I, at this minute, cannot see that there is one!!

Old lighting cable maybe.

Old telephone cable? Years ago phone was a single core run overhead, the return wire being connected to an earth rod.

how do youknow it's single core if you've not seen an end?

Have seen one end Tel. And cut a section also to confirm.

The induction loop I like the sound of - house has recently been purchased after some old gent lived there..

The only other time I've seen a single core flex was on a very old strobe gun my dad had for checking the timing on old cars!
