Unfortunately that's how people think these days. Oh Electrical is a doddle, Brown to Brown. Earth to Earth and blew to bits. The amount of DIY Donuts who try explaining how they have done a job and then say "Huh all this Apprentiship Bollox". I then look at there install while there waving a shitty Nokia in my face. Hold on mate. You've fed a electric shower in 2.5mm?
Had that happen with aq builder who thought he knew how to do all trades. Called me in when there was a fault tripping rcd which of course he couldn't find. When I was done he proudly showed me how he was installing a 9.5kW shower wiring as well. Connected to a 13amp switched fused spur. Told him it wouldn't work, it does he said tried it already! Told him to turn it from cold to hot - bang! Difficult not to feel smug sometimes lol. Some years ago now and he has passed on, natural causes not electrical!

When he started drawing around the surface mounted box, I thought it was just to level the surface a little. I mean....every thing was wrong, and as stated previously, he truly believes he's doing a competent job: so much so, he's put it on YouTube. It's so bad, it's comical.
