Discuss Socket Near Gas Pipe in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Not sure you will have to look in the good old BRB or OSG. There is a minimum distance for seperating gas and electrical supplies and i think it is 150mm, but i am working from memory, no doubt someone will enlighten us.

Cheers...........Howard

Is there a regulation on how far a socket should be from a gas pipe or gas meter?

Thanks

(BS 6891:2005 installation of low pipework in domestic premises, clause 8.16.2)

Where gas installation pipes are not separated by electrical insulating material from electrical equipment, including cables, they are to be spaced as follows:

  1. At least 150 mm away from electrical equipment (meters, controls, accessories, distribution boards or consumer units)
  2. At least 25 mm away from electricity cable.

Cheers!

Would this be the same for Water? Sorry I don't have my BRB at the moment.
