Hi,
I need tips or links on how to remove the Clear Prismatic Light Diffuse from suspended ceiling Florescent light fittings the size is 595 x 595, I am unable to lift the units and remove from the side due to a new air duct installed directly above all 4 fittings which are in a Hallway about 3 years ago by a local firm that has since gone bust.

I am trying to avoid breaking the Diffuser and the cost of getting new lights installed, the unit will lift up about an 1/2 inch.

many thanks

Their is a knack to them but their flexibility can reduce if many yrs old, explain the situe to the customer and get some new diffusers, they aint that expensive and any get broken at least you have spares.... your next problem is getting the new ones in ;)..

yes they are about 15 years old and very brittle.

push two adjacent corners up until they reach the backbox, this will lift and bend the sheet at one end and pull back the resting end enough so it can be eased down out of the fitting, like I said before it depends how old the difuser is and a bit of experience helps get the knack too... they were design to be taken out and fitted without the need to lift the fitting.

It's doubtful that you will get them out without cracking or splintering them, but new one's are dirt cheap and will be more flexible so should be easier to fit back after the tube/starter change. The new Led panels are much thinner less than a inch thick and would easily fit in the space and after 15 years it's not unreasonable to upgrade but it all depends on the situation and costs.
