my fatmax open tote is just about kaput, and i fancy something different. anyone got any recommendations?

also, does anyone recommend the traditional cantilever toolbox? my plastic toolbox is more like a coffin and i'm sick of lugging it about.

cheers.

I've scrapped the tote for a wheel able Stanley box, just fill it in the van then wheel it around the job, one of the better ideas I've had. I only fill it when I get to the job so it only ever has what I want in it, because its of a decent size I can also put my cordless drill box in it which saves dragging that around as well.

I use a Stanley backpack / wheel around. Good for heavy tools and also convenient when riding motorbike instead or driving

Veto pro pac nice bit of kit but bit on the expensive side. Facom make awesome toolbags. Solid construction. They also have handy covers on them aswell. Saves ur kit getting soaked if need arises to work in the rain! Personally rather drink tea until it stops.......

i had stanley with wheels, but bought a fat max bag, no matter what will always be choc a block and have stinking time dragging tools about... that why we charge what we charge...

Facom tool bags are excellent I've had mine for 5 years and its still going strong
i like these. bit dearer than the usual suspects but you get what you pay for, i suppose. my fatmax has hardly lasted 3 years. i like the cover on the facom as well. so many times i've had to empty my tools out of the bag and dry them.

i quite like these and i'm gonna take a closer look. don't fancy being the bloke that takes up 1/2 the room in the sitebox though!

Just to add when I take my box on wheels round and about it doubles up as a great step for getting to lamps etc...

I've got one of these from Stanley and it's brilliant:

Stanley 1-79-213 - electrotools

Apparently quite hard to get hold of though, it's just taken me a good few minutes to find one online. Holds all my basic tools. The rest is in a couple of heavy duty crates which I only lug out when I need them.

Welcome to the getting old club mate. Next stop after the wheel able stanley, is the motability scooter.:ihih:

Cheers...........Howard

mine has worn thin on the side, the metal frame that keeps the shape has broke and the strap cusion has ripped

you wouldn't think ive only really been using it since june

discovered new use for my magma tote bag - a cable dispenser :)

The Veto Pro Packs look really good IMO, Not sure if I could justify the price though.

I thought the same for ages until I finally bit the bullet and bought one, I now have the LC and the two smaller pouches they do and am shortly going to be ordering the LT

Does anyone recommend the Stanley Technicians Tote??? Seen a decent little deal on ebay and since my 18" Tote is a little too big was thinking of this???

Couldn't agree more. Ive had mine for years and years, its still going strong aswell - Build quality is fantastic, as pointed facom may be abit more expensive - but they serve you well.

Definitley recommend facom products to everyone. Durable and long lasting. 10/10.

quick update fellas......just ordered the facom.

£53.49p..... had it in my amazon basket for a while, hoping it would drop a bit more in price. it probably will now i've ordered it!

thanks for all your input.....much appreciated.

nice, very tempted by that one

what you guys think is the quality better than the ck maga tote?

i think the facom looks better from pics but havent seen either bag with my own two eyes

can't say what the quality's like till i've had it a while, but a couple of the lads on here have vouched for it. one of the things that clinched it for me, is the cover. i've lost count of the times i've been caught, out in the rain.

No idea about the ck tote....my facom tote isn't the same as this one, but its very similar...its about 10years old mine, and its still going strong. Ck could be decent, but facom are generally a good make and it'll last. Facom definitley gets my vote anyway.

Now shag has shown this facom, ive just scouted it on amazon myself....tempted aswell, but don't think i can replace my other tote just yet....im a sentimental **** haha.

I think I've said before on here, but I've got a brilliant Fatmax closed tote. Swinging handle rather than fixed. Absolutely brilliant bit of kit, but from what I gather they're pretty rare.

Real shame they're hard to get hold of...

I need to get a tote bag, I have been looking at the 20" Facom bag, looks really good. I like the Veto but just feel that I'll be pulling things in and out of it trying to work out hich handle is which etc. I'd rather just see the end of the screwdriver not a bunch of handles.

The ck tote is pretty good with a lot of spaces for drivers, pliers etc, it also has a cover to save your tools getting caught in the rain, I'm onto my 2nd one in about 5 years and I'd definetly recommend it

Sorry to drag this thread up again, But still toying with the Veto Pro Pac idea, looking at the OT XL, Wheres the best place on the net to buy them? and is the weight of them an Issue as some have stated?

R.I.P old fashioned tool-tray.

Must say, couldn't manage without a tote now. Don't know how we used to manage with the 30cmx30cmx30cm old fashioned tool-tray lol.

Facom tote for me - awsome bit of kit.

i spent the first 10 years on the tools using a metal cantilever mechanics tool box , indestructable.
good times long since gone.
:-)
i use the fatmax 18" tote now , excellent bit of kit.
