Whats the process with running a new electricity supply from i.e EDF to fuseboard?

Just wondering what the whole procedure is? What are the rules and regs associated with this etc? Whats the situation if your having a single phase or three phase board?

1: Apply to DNO for supply ( application for supply will be sent to you , you will proberbly need help to
fill in the form )
2: Appoint an electrical contractor to carry out new installation.( He will fill in
the form and ask you to sign it and return to DNO)
3: Contractor will then liase with DNO regarding connection, complition and certification of the new
installation)
4: Contractor will arrange connection
5: You pay contractor ( if you have not already done so)
