I have just carried out a PIR on a property with an old Wylex 4 way rewireable fuse board - I understand the the main switch isolator on the board is a Bs.5419, but am concerned at the amp rating of the Main switch - I always understood that the small boards were rated a 60amp and the larger boards (8way) were 80amp. is this correct??
My reason for asking is that the 4 way board is connected to a 100amp main cut-out fuse 1361 type2.

think you are correct at 60A for the bs 5419 wylex switch. the 100A DNO fuse is there to protect their equipment, irrespective of the customer's installation. it would be difficult to load a 4 way board above 60A . there's only 4 circuits, usually 2 x 30A, 1 x 15A, 1 x 5A. at worst, that would be a total load of around 40A allowing for diversity.

Thw 1, 2,3, 4 & 6 way units were rated to 60A. The bigger 8 & 10 way units were 80A but later increased to 100A.
