Hello. I have a new kitchen going in with a island in the middle. A 10mm t&e (protected by a 40A mcb) has been laid under kitchen floor for the hob that's going on it. No other cables can be run to it now. Trouble is I would now like two double sockets on it.

Can this be done? I thought about a mini ring from a junction box with 4mm cable. (So effectively 8mm)

What is the 10mm feeding?
Is it not in a duct?
Why 4mm for the RFC?

You could Put a 13 amp FCU next to cooker switch and supply socket from that

10mm feeding the kitchen hob. It is in ducting but 3 bends, tried rods. No chance.
I can't squeeze a 10mm cable in and out of a fcu for sockets. 2.5mm will not be protected by the 40A mcb at the board. That's why I thought a small two socket ring using 4mm cable from a junction box which the 10mm cable comes to before the main isolater for the hob.

Come off of the 10mm feed to the hob with 4mm, into a fcu and feed your 2 13Amp sockets in a Radial circuit, or have I got the wrong end of the stick? is there an RCD in this circuit.

Yes circuit is RCD protected. So a short piece of 4mm t&e (about 2metres) will be ok covered by a 40A mcb at board?

I sure you are permitted to run a short length of 2.5mm cable from the cooker switch to the FSU as that short peace of cable will only ever pull 13 amps ( because the fuse in the spur will Blow on overload ) and if there is a short to earth on the live of the 2.5mm cable the 40 amp MCB will trip before any damage is caused to the cable just make sure you can get a good connection with the 2.5mm cable and the 10mm cable in the terminal , failing that you could fit a small 2 way DB (metal of course :))

Best suggestion is as the spark doing the work and as you are in Wales this comes under Part P too!
