kt64 continuity boom!!!

Hi guys been a while I've had alot going on in my life with ill ness and one thing and another. Any way long story short.
I lent out my tester to a so called friend and he failed to say he had broken it! I found tin foil around the fuse and the continuity no longer works.
After a massive argument he offered to pay for repair so off it went to kewtech. To which the response I got was its irreparable.
WTF all they have to do is replace a pcb?
I rang them and was told don't make the bits any more.
So they calibrated the rest and I now use it as a loop, RCD and had a cheap continuity tester purchased as a replacement.
I thought I'd give it a go thinking it would be a component or track blown. Cannot see anything and I do not even know which of the three pcbs inside does the continuity.
we'll scouting the internet for help or schematics is impossible it seems and asking for help is not working.
So I put it to you anyone know anything about repairing these can advise or any way I could get it fixed?

I lent my lads core drill this week, and burnt it out. Gonna cost me £150 to get a new one. Meantime I send the broken one away to see if it’s repairable. He’s coming over the weekend to drill the remaining holes with the new core drill.

See where I’m going with this?

Try someone like the link below who will attempt repairs on anything electronic.
They don't list meters but might be worth a try.

I've used someone similar to these, it may actually be the one in the link, in a previous employment for repairs to random items.

Not disagreeing with you, but they're still selling KT64 brand new - how can there be no spare parts?

To be honest if your mate broke it he should replace it or do the running around to get it fixed.

Don't think these guys are the cheapest but if your mate is paying it doesn't matter.

Revised model because the Continuity side of the electronics are prone to failing??

Ive had good reliable service at a sensible price for a few years now.

I had exactly the same problem - continuity stopped working on my megger mft 1552 but everything else was ok. I found out that i had to replace an internal fuse and got the fuse and did the job myself. now works perfectly

Come on now, it's not just a board, it's the paper work and man hours spent faffing around with a meter. They probably told you it's not repairable because it's cheaper an easier for you just to buy a new one.

I had Bosch laser level, and I cracked the glass lenses, laser still worked okay. Unrepairable according to Bosch, 'cos they don't sell spares.

i had a 1552, ragged readings on continuity range, called back by calibrators as unrepairairable . was just a soldered connection on the back of 1 of the 4mm sockets. took 20 mins to fix.

My wife got older and didn't work as well as she used to, I traded in for a newer sportier model.............

I got a Megger PAT 150R kept on coming up with a fault code on startup rang Megger told was an internal fault and have to send it to them and pay them to fix it turns out that it only needed new rechargeable batteries.

Barnaby- Ive checked all fuses.
Rob- Its my time im not fussed if i got pointed in the right direction.

The new KT64 are different internals i was told as i did think the same!

Secondhand kt65 as little as £300 now
Im hoping im not having to spend that amount.

No but i am assuming from the foil on the fuse and the burnt marks leaving the test button pushed in and putting it on a live circuit.
