Looks like a good idea to me. I'm in the middle of doing some decorating and I'm planning on putting a new socket in. If I just chisel out enough to glue the socket in then all I need to do is run a 45 deg channel to the new socket. The current one is already a spur so I'll just use 1mm cable (got a reel of black in the van) so that I don't overload it and job done. Saves on the cost of a back box and less work.
congratulations. you has just passed all the criteria to become a masterbatorbuilder.

...and twist those CPCs together so that you can get them into the same piece of sleeving...

Not typical but a good or should I say bad example of things I find in people's houses. Although typically the worst is saved for rented properties don't you find?
This is what looks to be a hinge screw in the neutral block.

at least the cpc's are connected. seen loads cut off. down to the "cpc is to strip T/E, no other purpose" brigade

No.....It's to stop the electricity leaking out.
it doesn't leak tese days. that's why tesla invented a.c. as edison's d.c leaked out. with a.c. all the electrons thatr try and leak out are then pulled back by the 180 negative cycle. and it's a never ending thing 50 times a second.

FFS, I’d be embarrassed to churn out rubbish like that unless it was for a (very) temporary fix.

for the time it’s taken to mash in that, he could have whacked it inside a nice enclosure and made it look tidy.
If an electrician actually left that as the ‘finished’ job then we might as well all pack up tomorrow as we will never compete with such quality workmanship

....and what the hells going on with that SWA?
I think they have left the sheath below the armour on all the way down, and it is (hopefully) glanded properly at the top.

But equally it seems strange to have dangling Henleys and the external meter when they could have got the meter kit for the Hager board...

The Hager meters are around 3 times the price of a standard meter.
