It's never infinite anyway... It's always going to have s limit so you should put what it says on the screen in your meter, if it says 168M you put that.

both my analogue megger IR testers have this miraculous "8 on the side". it the needle says it, that's what it is.
 
See, I am glad I asked. I am putting a 70 page EICR on to the NICEIC on-line certs and I was putting 200, 200, 200, 200, 200, 200 etc... But I noticed the guy doing the test wrote 299. Then I thought - why the difference?

I have always input 200 and never really knew why.
