TV.

Dancing on ice is still on.
If you don’t know, me and my middle daughter volunteer teaching ice skating to kids on Sundays in the winter.
When “DOI” starts on tv there’s a major influx of new members.

Britains Got Talent started last Saturday, so that’s a new crop of mediocre singers, crappy dog acts and kid magicians…. Oh, and not forgetting the silent horror shock acts… usually sword swallowers or people inserting other sharp objects into various orifices.


Movies.

Watched the latest Marvel film, “Captain America Brave New World” and it’s actually one of the better recent offerings.

Celebrity Big Brother starts tonight… with people I’ve actually heard of!

Ok. Most of them, I’ve heard of.

Some names are familer

Faces… maybe.. names… maybe not.


Ok we’ve got a corrie actor in Jack P Shepherd.. Eastenders Bianca, Patsy Palmer. Presenter Angelica Bell, Drag act Danny Beard…. Olympic legend Daley Thompson, American “entertainer” Jojo Siwa and a bunch of TOWIE, Love Island rejects and an ex politician.

I should say “rumoured” to be entering the house tonight.

Don't really watch TV. The Aussie will come in from work and watch re-runs of NCIS for the 20th time whilst I make supper and then we'll fire up a Netflix/Prime something for a couple of hours. I even ditched the Sky box a couple of months ago as it was doing absolutely nothing that the smart TV can't do by itself anyway and you can't get on Freesat. In fact, much to our confusion there's about a thousand other satellite ch's appeared last night as well, none of which will ever get so much as glanced at.

I would advise not to click any "submit" button until Dan has a chance to look at it.

I dont think the forum has a "menu" button as such.....

I'm pretty sure you are the only one who thinks it's not Rockin-Git.
In my defence I'm also pretty sure I have referred to you as RG several times over the years on more than one forum

UK tv channels…. What do you think you are doing??

BBC1, 6:50. Saturday night, New doctor Who
ITV, 7pm. Britains Got Talent.

You have no idea the turmoil in our house trying to decide which to watch and which to record…

“You can skip through the adverts!”

“It’s only Doctor Who!”


I’m sure you can imagine.


So I lost. Skybox set to record bbc1…..
however sometime in the afternoon, I was perusing the apps on my tv, looking for something… bbc iPlayer, turns out, drops doctor who at midnight Saturday morning. I didn’t have to wait….. I got it watched at 4 o’clock.

So that’s my Saturdays sorted for the next few weeks.

I watched the Dr Who episode on Saturday and I can confirm one thing - I won't be watching any more with this guy. I used to be a big fan years ago but I thought Saturdays was so bad I would rather stick pins in my eyeballs than watch another episode. The 'acting' was terrible, the plot was useless and the robots were probably designed by an 8 year old. Apart from that it was okay ;-)

The acting has always been terrible…. Even before “new” Who.

Robots with emoji smiles changing faces has been done before on Who….

Social commentary on whatever is in the news just now is the “big bad” … Done before.

White, blonde haired teenager companion replaced by 20 something that works as a nurse…. Done before.



It was 10 times better than the last series first episode… Space Babies and the literal Bogey man.


This opinion may change after next weeks, Alan Cummins as cartoon baddie episode

It’s taken long enough, but Star Trek strange new worlds season 3 dropped on paramount plus yesterday. 2 episodes

Episode 1 was the finale to the Gorn cliffhanger from last season. Pure technobabble solution but has left some lasting ongoing storylines.

Episode 2, more lighthearted. An introduction to another Original Series one shot character… a very surprising voice cameo…. And an equally surprising musical choice.
