Discuss 24volt voltage drop on a multiple garden LED layout design? Best practice? in the Lighting Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi all,

This is my first time posting something on this forum. I'm busy putting together a design for some LED lights that are going to be mounted on some columns along a pathway. The supply will run twenty odd metres to an enclosure on the outside of the building that will encase the drivers. From here I will run out my ELV 24v cabling to my LED lights. The problem I have is that there are about 23 lights and the cable run from the enclosure will be about 78 metres. Each LED is 3 watts so .125 amps but so the cable run is going to have to be split regardless. My original thought is to split it into four or five seperate circuits so that I'm maxing out at .5 or .625 amp load current max. I realise that my 78metre run will actually be twice that given its DC. The consultant had it pegged as three circuits but I feel like this is significantly overloaded?

Is there a better way to design this, keeping in mind the drivers will need to remain on the outside of the building.

NOTE: There are actually two seperate runs from two seperate source supplies each containing an enclosure. Obviously principles are the same so for simplicity I have just mentioned one cable layout as shown below.

Cheers
