Hi all,

Been brushing up on this one but have a query and confirmation of my thoughts.

I have a job where to install an outside light in a back garden. Best location for it is in the middle section of the wall between 2 windows.
Gas combi boiler is installed in kitchen the other side of the cavity wall.
Exhaust point is above where the light would be.
Pipes run down inside property.

Is separation as per 528.3.3 & .4 irrelevant to services the other side of a wall?

I cannot see how the exhaust fumes will cause a problem to the light, or vice-versa.

over thinking is the word that comes to mind. if no detrimental influences either way. crack on.

remingds me of an alarm system i put in some time ago. the external siren was 3ft. away from the c/h flue. when she had a couple of false alarms, customer swore that was the problem. turned out to be sun in the morning coming through lounge window, reflecting off coffee table into a mirror and back to the PIR.

Wow! How random! You wouldn't even begin to imagine that sort of eventuality - it's the stuff that hollywood movies are made of.

If you're really that bothered about it, look in Part J of Buildings Regs for flue outlet locations. :-)

The only thing about the set up i would advise on, is thet the condensate from the boiler, should it drip on the fitting will rust it in no time at all. The condensate is demineralised and will attack just about anything to get them back!!!
