I call it cotton wrap but I think its known as VIR

we have stripped loads of vir out, problem is when it dries out it becomes very brittle

Defo VIR , I pulled out loads of this on Riser renewals , made a bit of money as scrap as well....

Still see the old VIR tails about...


Bend it and it will usually split the insulation , exposing the conductor...
