Discuss Anyone fitted any LAP gu10 5w leds lamps from screwfix in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

What's the problem with fitting quality products these days? Don't elecricans use wholesalers anymore? All this talk of Screwfix and wickes, really?

I agree and prefer to fit better quality gear, but not always possible. Eddy's, amongst others, sell some crap products too!!

With reference to the LEDs; if I fit gu10s I always always always encourage the client to upgrade to LEDs instead of halogen. When I tell them of the benefits and costs etc 90% of the time they are happy to upgrade. I rarely mark up the LEDs costs. If the only lamps I were willing to fit were upwards of £8 each I think the uptake would be less then 30%. Take from that what you will.

Leave Wickes alone......they always have a cracking range of chocolate at their tills!

went today to replace two broken halogen mr16, bought a 5pack of those leds on the way, customer really liked them ended up using whole lot. same bright as 35watt halogen, supposed to last 3 years on warranty.

3 years... Why not just spend another tenner or so and provide the customer with a sealed complete unit thats guaranteed for a decade (JCC)?

My point being, all this is about which is the cheapest/best LED light, well one of the factors to consider is unlnown, forget what they promise hours-life wise, only time will tell.

So you cannot make a jugdement on any of these multitude of makes appearing every day, as to how reliable they are or how long they will last.

however if you have provided a light with a written ten year guarantee then really you have removed that unknown. Some cars do not last that long.

i do not work for JCC by the way I just think it is an astonishingly long period to say you stand by a product.....
