Bought this down the Sunday market for nine quid! (also got some MK fused spurs in wrappers, four for a quid, but that's another story). I assume it's an old GPO issue tester... it seems to have low ohm and IR testing capabilities, it also has a range of different mA - surely this isn't an RCD tester!? I don't think RCDs existed when this came out.
Notice the bottom of the case says '7D', I think that's how much it cost in old money!!!
By the way, it seems to be working (at least the light comes on) but I have no idea how to use it and what it can do. It has many places to put the leads.... there are also some sort of instructions on the back, but I think they are just to test the tester (I can't understand them at any rate). Has anyone else used one of these before? I'm thinking if it can be used for anything it could be very handy in the event of another MFT meltdown.

Or just admire it's sexy old schoolitude.

Novus - yea a full year's worth from seaward (in 1955)
Lenny - well done, thanks for that, man.
Durham - it's on! I'm sure I can find older.
Pennywise - No.

It's made of bloody wood! I bet it weighs a ton. 50 Megs though, that's pretty high for the olden days. They didn't even use CPCs then!
