being FEMALE I dont have a **** thanks but not that helpful telectrix.

Take a look at the OSRAM UK Lighting website(Google) then once you have seen what you want you can look on ebay for a supplier selling them, or you could try in Homebase , they have a reasonable selection of lamps (bulbs) for sale....might be a bit pricey but probably worth it....

The kind of lamps you are looking for will probably be pearl/frosted ones, the light output and colour effect is there with pictures on the Osram website...

once you have had a look you can tell me what website you were looking at the bulbs (lamps) on if you want any advice or feedback on the light level from them...

google bulb direct
this company can help you find any type of bulb i use them a lot
and they have a very good service record and customer satisfaction record
i generally dont post links unless they are valid answer to a problem

Thanks Grant37. I've looked at the Osram site but they only appear to offer Warm and Cool white which only give a max of 4000K colour temperature which isnt high enough to what the other guys are advising me to get. I did buy some Cool white ones on offer @ half price in Homebase recently and they were still too yellowy - so they were returned (as I need the blue-white effect).

Thanks gnuuser - I went onto the site but there are no images showing so I've no idea what I'd be getting! I'm going to buy 1 bulb off ebay today to see if that's OK and if it is I'll buy some more. I'll let everyone know how I get on. Thanks for everyone's input - really helpful and I've learned a lot about light bulbs this week!

Looking at that photo they lookxactly like the ones I have just bought a few weeks ago. Shockingly made, and one has already gone with an almighty bang and filled the light fitting with black soot! They do have a blue-ish white light output. I've had enough of cheap LED lamps, I'm sticking with known manf's now. Daz

Yes, I'd have to agree, DPG - the builder put them in when he refurbished my bathroom - and after seeing them on ebay from China, I guess they're pretty rubbish! Touch wood 4 are still going, but 1 has blown after 3 months. I'll probably change them all over to a well known manufacturer, and one that gives a 2 or 3 year guarantee. I just need to find the blue-white ones I want. Thanks.

Grantr37 - thanks. I'll have a look at those. :-)

you cant expect to find an LED lamp that will be the same or brighter than the halogens for pennys !

you get what you pay for !
